What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy is an evidence-based treatment that uses low pressure energy waves to stimulate healing in certain tissues of the body. The energy from the shockwaves promotes increased blood flow and tissue regeneration, which can help the body repair damaged tissues. Shockwave therapy is commonly used to treat conditions such as musculoskeletal injuries, tendonitis, and certain types of chronic pain. It’s a non-invasive and relatively simple procedure that aims to accelerate the natural healing processes of the body.
Shockwave therapy has been used to treat a variety of medical conditions, particularly those involving musculoskeletal and soft tissue issues. Some of the common conditions that may be treated with shockwave therapy include:
Some of the common conditions that may be treated with shockwave therapy include:
- Tendonitis: Shockwave therapy is often employed to address conditions such as Achilles tendonitis, rotator cuff tendonitis, and patellar tendonitis. It helps to stimulate healing and reduce inflammation in the affected tendons.
- Plantar Fasciitis: This is a condition characterised by inflammation of the tissue on the bottom of the foot. Shockwave therapy can be beneficial in relieving pain and promoting healing in cases of plantar fasciitis.
- Calcific Shoulder Tendinopathy: Shockwave therapy may be used to break down calcifications in the shoulder tendons, reducing pain and improving shoulder function.
- Golfers and Tennis Elbow: Conditions like medial and lateral epicondylitis (commonly known as golfer's and tennis elbow) can be treated with shockwave therapy to reduce pain and promote healing in the affected elbow tendons.
Many patients report complete pain relief or significant pain reduction after only 2-3 sessions.

What our patients say
EXCELLENT30 reviewsKirstie JamesHad my first appointment with Laura today. Amazing difference from just the first session! She diagnosed the issue straight away and then got to work. My 'heavy' leg already feels much better. Will definitely be back. Thank you! 😊mitchell wilkinsonI have suffered with various back problems for over 30 years. I had a nasty flare up around 12 months ago. Painful to stand up straight and even walk. It was effecting my job as a chef. A few visits with Campbell Milton and I was sorted. He advised me on various stretches to do, which I have kept up with. I have had no problems since. Thank you 🙏James PThank you Laura for sorting out my pelvic/lower back issue that was causing me persistent discomfort. The fact it was done in the first session was amazing too. My previous experience of osteopathy (many years ago) has been minimal manipulation and just being asked to do certain stretches - walking away feeling a bit cheated of my money. This was very hands on - highly recommended and worth every pennyMike ForsytheFantastic treatment. Colette helped me with a longstanding neck issue and did so with professionalism and expertise.
